04 — Alignment Stewardship

Counsel that keeps.

Post-workshop advisory. Not a retainer for hours — a standing relationship built on continuity, not transactions.

What it is

A standing relationship with the person who built your alignment artifacts — not a retainer for hours, not consulting-on-demand.

The Positioning Map is written. The Trade-Off Manifesto is signed. The 90-Day Plan is underway. And then the real world arrives: a hiring decision that doesn’t fit neatly on the map, a pricing question that tests a trade-off the team thought was settled, a board member who wasn’t in the room.

Stewardship is Alex’s continued presence as a thinking partner for those moments. Not as a consultant producing deliverables — as the person who was in the room when the team decided, and who can hold the mirror up when drift begins.

The cadence is bi-monthly. The access is the most direct. The purpose is to keep the workshop's artifacts alive as working documents, not filed ones.

How it runs

Designed around your decision rhythm. The shape below is typical, not fixed.

  1. 01

    Onboarding

    First month

Alex reviews the Workshop artifacts with the engagement sponsor and establishes the rhythm: a standing monthly call, a direct channel for ad-hoc questions, and the calendar for the first quarterly review. If there are decisions already in flight from the 90-Day Plan, those become the first agenda.

  2. 02

    Monthly counsel

    Ongoing

A 30–60-minute call twice a month with the engagement sponsor (and, as needed, other members of the leadership team). The agenda is driven by whatever the team is facing. Alex’s role is to pressure-test each decision against the Positioning Map and the Trade-Off Manifesto.

  3. 03

    Quarterly positioning review

    Every 90 days

A structured session revisiting the Positioning Map and the Trade-Off Manifesto against the decisions made in the previous quarter. Has the team held its positions? Has drift begun? Are the spectrums still the right ones, or has the organization evolved past them? The review produces an updated map and a refreshed 90-Day Plan.

  4. 04

    Ad-hoc access

    Ongoing

Between calls, Alex is available via a direct channel for questions that cannot wait for the monthly session. No booking, no briefs.

What you leave with

Living artifacts — updated quarterly, not filed after the Workshop.

Artifact 01

Updated Positioning Map

Revised every quarter to reflect decisions made, positions held or adjusted, and any new spectrums the organization has adopted. The map is a living document, not a snapshot.

Artifact 02

Quarterly Review Brief

A written summary of each quarterly review: what held, what drifted, what the team decided to change. Serves as a transferable record of the team’s evolving alignment. Gold for new leaders or board members.

Artifact 03

Decision Log

A running record of the significant decisions pressure-tested against the Positioning Map during Stewardship. Over time, the log becomes the organization’s clearest evidence of how it makes decisions — and whether it is becoming more or less decided.

Who it’s for

Stewardship is for teams that did the work and intend to keep it.

  • Leadership teams that have completed the Alignment Workshop and want to protect the investment.
  • CEOs and GMs who want an external thinking partner for the decisions that test organizational identity.
  • Organizations in active transformation — mid-rebrand, post-merger, scaling across new markets — where alignment is under constant pressure.
  • Teams preparing for leadership transitions where the incoming leader needs to inherit not just the strategy, but the positioning logic behind it.
  • Multi-site operators who need ongoing calibration as the brand travels to new properties, regions, or segments.

If your team hasn’t done the Workshop, Stewardship isn’t the right starting point. The artifacts need to exist before they can be kept alive.

Pricing & terms

Priced for a relationship, not a project. The fee reflects access and continuity, not hours delivered.

Fee
From $3,000 per month. Billed quarterly.
Minimum term
Three months minimum. There are no contractual lock-in.
Quarterly reviews
Included. If required, on-site quarterly reviews incur travel costs; remote reviews carry no additional fee.
Ad-hoc access
Included — no hourly billing, no retainer cap. The relationship is designed for continuity, not utilisation tracking.
Workshop credit
Clients who completed the full path receive priority scheduling and rate lock — the monthly fee does not increase as long as the engagement continues.

Pricing may vary based on team size, cadence and identified needs.

Questions

Before you book the conversation.

Can we start Stewardship without doing the Workshop?

Not typically. Stewardship is built around the artifacts the Workshop produces — the Positioning Map, the Trade-Off Manifesto, the 90-Day Plan. Without them, there is no shared reference point to steward. In rare cases where an organization has equivalent artifacts from another process, Alex will evaluate on a Fit Conversation.

How much of Alex’s time does the retainer include?

Stewardship is not billed by the hour. The monthly call, the quarterly review, and ad-hoc access are all included. The engagement is designed for the rhythm of real decisions, not for maximising utilisation.

What happens between monthly calls?

Alex is available via a direct channel. Most Stewardship clients send two to four messages per month between calls — usually a decision they want to pressure-test or a question about how the Positioning Map applies to a specific situation. Responses are typically same-day.

Who attends the monthly calls?

The standing call is with the engagement sponsor, but any member of the leadership team can join when the agenda warrants it. Quarterly reviews are designed for the full team.
